Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - OCIA

OCIA Purpose – Becoming Catholic/Joining Catholic Church. OCIA stands for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. It’s a process through which non-baptized or baptized non-Catholic men and women enter the Catholic Church. It includes several stages marked by Study, Prayer, and Rites at Mass. 

OCIA Team are Parishioner Volunteers who guide others to our Catholic faith. 

Who:

·       Catechumens – non-baptized or non-recognized baptized persons.

·       Candidates – baptized Christians or baptized but uncatechized Catholics.

·       Catechism of the Catholic Church: This comprehensive document summarizes Catholic teaching with many references to magisterial documents. It is available for free on the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops website (http://ccc.usccb. org/flipbooks/catechism/) as well as in print form. The online version is searchable. (Available in English & Spanish.)
